June is here, and Pride Month always calls for a history lesson – and that includes queer Hollywood history!
At just over 30 years old, ‘The Celluloid Closet’ (1995), based on Vito Russo’s book of the same name, is now a classic itself. But when it had just “come out,” this beloved documentary from acclaimed filmmakers Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman looked at the portrayal of LGBTQ+ characters in Hollywood up until the early 1990s.
For some of us, this will be a delightful rewatch. For others, an eye-opening first-time experience. Whatever the case, please join us and stick around for our discussion on the film afterwards.
